Known for his eloquent lyricism, Locke Kaushal brings a genuine artistic flare to the rap scene. The Northern Virginia native is building buzz in the U.S. capital as the next up-and-coming artist to keep on your radar. An excerpt from The Culture LP’s (a creative collective and media outlet) “Game Changer” feature on Locke last week.

Check out another abstract from the article below:

“I don’t think my artistic style fits into the present fad of hip hop but it fits into the shift of where hip hop music is going,” says Locke.

What separates Locke Kaushal from what we usually see in hip hop today? Locke Kaushal is artistically inspired by literature and culture. Locke says, “watching the day-to-day culture around me and escaping my present reality through fiction novels helps me easily depict visual imagery through my lyrics.” He says he best depicts this ideology in “Let There Be Hell,” where he describes his interpretation of “hell on earth.”

WINNER FOR BEST FILM!

In October, 2012, Locke had his first short film appearance starring in Kevin Wilson’s Award Winning “The Unattainable Piece,” through the 48 Hour Film Project. Locke, Kevin, and the crew took FIRST PLACE! So what is the 48 Hour Film Project?

Here’s an excerpt from their website:

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and your team have a blast making a movie. All writing, shooting, editing and scoring must be completed in just 48 hours. On Friday night, you are assigned a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, that must be included in your movie. 48 hours later, you must submit your film. Next? Your masterpiece will show on the big screen of a local theater! In 2013 the 48HFP will visit more than 120 cities where more than 60,000 people will make short films. The Project has truly spread to the four corners of the globe as filmmakers from Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas will compete to see who can make the best short film in a weekend.

Check the video above to watch the award-winning “The Unattainable Piece,” and the 48 Hour Film Project’s website for more information. http://www.48hourfilm.com/

Directed by Kevin Wilson, Jr.
